Genea Richie Born in the West Midlands (UK), Genea has been in the spotlight since the age of six, when she entered and won her first talent show, a success which was repeated throughout her childhood. From the age of 16, Genea began singing professionally with a variety of jazz and function bands, including 'MYJO' and 'Garry Allcock and the All -Stars'. During study for her first degree, where she specialised in Music education, Genea continued to sing throughout the UK, a pass-time which continued into her career as a teacher, where she specialises today in Music and French teaching. Genea further enhanced her vocal skills, knowledge and understanding during study for her Masters Degree, with research devoted to the improvement of singing in education, which earned her a distinction. Continuing her work as a primary school practitioner, Genea continues to develop Music in education, working as a specialist Music and singing teacher and as a result of her commitment was approached to lecture at University level. Genea is a Lecturer at the University of Worcester, where she is pursuing further study at PhD level with a specific focus upon singing in education. Additionally, Genea is a lyricist and composer and it has been suggested that she seek to publish some of her works. She also is the creator of 'Rainbow Music', a Birmingham-based music group for parents/carers of children aged 0-3, for which she has been critically acclaimed . Today, Genea continues to sing professionally and her vocal flexibility allows her to span several musical genres, catering for a wide range of musical projects. |
