The Wales Wing Chun Kuen was opened in 1991 by Sifu Steve Jones, who qualified an Instructor under Sifu Shaun Rawcliffe, Chief Instructor of the Midlands Wing Chun Kuen.
Since that time Sifu Steve Jones has been teaching Wing Chun as a representative of Sifu Rawcliffe and the Midlands Wing Chun Kuen Association, offering traditional Wing Chun to students in the Bridgend area of South Wales. Now Sifu Jones is assisted by his senior students, who run classes in Cardiff and Pontypridd under the guidance of Sifu Jones.

In keeping with the philosophy of the Midlands Wing Chun Kuen, the Wales schools have been kept small and family-like, representing Sifu Rawcliffe, the Midlands Wing Chun Kuen and thereby Grandmaster Ip Chun, ensuring that authentic Wing Chun is taught in the traditional way. All applicants are vetted, and only those who have proven their dedication, respect and genuine desire to learn are accepted
